Wilsonville is a city in Clackamas County, Oregon, United States. The
population was 13,991 at the 2000 census.
As of the census of 2000, there were 13,991 people, 5,937 households, and 3,775
families residing in the city. The population density was 805.1/km (2,085.3/mi).
There were 6,407 housing units at an average density of 368.7/km (954.9/mi). The
racial makeup of the city was 90.45% White, 0.66% African American, 0.70% Native
American, 2.22% Asian, 0.16% Pacific Islander, 3.15% from other races, and 2.65%
from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 6.94% of the
population.
There were 5,937 households out of which 30.4% had children under the age of 18
living with them, 51.5% were married couples living together, 8.3% had a female
householder with no husband present, and 36.4% were non-families. 28.3% of all
households were made up of individuals and 9.7% had someone living alone who was
65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.34 and the average
family size was 2.89.
In the city the population was spread out with 24.6% under the age of 18, 9.4%
from 18 to 24, 31.4% from 25 to 44, 20.2% from 45 to 64, and 14.4% who were 65
years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there
were 94.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.7 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $52,515, and the median income
for a family was $65,172. Males had a median income of $43,480 versus $28,395
for females. The per capita income for the city was $29,786. About 3.0% of
families and 5.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 3.7%
of those under age 18 and 8.2% of those age 65 or over.
Wilsonville is mildly famous as the headquarters of Mentor Graphics, a $700
million company that makes software to design integrated circuits. It is also
home to Hollywood Entertainment, parent company of Hollywood Video as well
InFocus, a producer of multimedia projectors. Xerox has had a large facility in
Wilsonville since it acquired the color printing and imaging division of
Tektronix corporation in 2000.
